Why do they always play 1x wattdragon and 1x luster dragon, insted of 2x wattdragon?

Kinectric (guest) - 2012/03/18 00:18

Chain Disappearance

Because the dragons come out at 0/0 so they can be Chain Disappearance'd. So if you ran 2 Wattdragons you would lose both of them, instead of being safe and running one Wattdragon and one Luster Dragon #2.

why do ppl ask this ? over and over....

better ?'s are why not max out on red ii, seeing as how having one in hand is always great. why run gorz over trago, when it gets in the way?
Omega (guest) - 2012/03/19 05:05

Because Red Eyes is a terrible draw when your combo is not flowing (and not a essential draw when it can be tutored once Atmus is out), and 2 is enough for you to do over 12k damage with just 3 cards. I've lost more games because I draw into 2 Red Eyes then when I win because I had 2 in my hands, and I've won far more games with zero Red Eyes in my hand than when I had 1 or more. You do the analysis.

Gorz and Trago both "get in the way" for Hieroglyph, but they are pretty important for surviving OTKs with how little m/ts they run (thanks to Inzector). They are actually usable defense when drawn from Card Car D too (where as M/T's aren't since you can't set them)

On the other hand having a Red-Eyes in hand allows for another possible OTK combination. I've been testing for at least 2 months now and every time I draw double REDMD I win. The only times it has been bad is when I have REDMD + BLS + 3 spells/traps. It is also strong with Wingbeat... but the OCG doesn't seen to be playing that as much as I would like to see. It is probably because of the no-prio stuff that they are playing more defensive but I feel that won't cut it in the TCG with Wind-Ups very rampant and Rabbit being un-veilerable.

I personally think that having the 3rd REDMD and 3 Wingbeat opens more OTK spots then without them. This theory should probably be taken only in the TCG though.

Trag can Xyz into Rank 6 and 5's, while Gorz cannot. Also, Trag can have 6k ATK/DEF if brought out when having 6 cards in hand. This'll stop the Hieratic OTK cold.

You've obviously never learned how to use Focus Force if your OTK is stopped by Tragoedia.

You need a Gorz or 2 Tragoedias if your opponent is cautious enough to use Focus Force. It's not doable with 3 cards (but using 3 cards to force 13k damage OR forcing your opponent to drop a card into the field, but very easily with 4.)

Wingbeat are terrible dead draws when your combo isn't flowing, and also eats up fuel for Shu's effect. I'm not saying the deck is perfect (in fact it's not, and is only a 13 people tournament), but your experience seems highly situational as well (2 REDMD winning you the game every time requires your opponent to run no disruption or you just have a bunch of Hieroglyph monsters to go along with your other 4 cards, in which case you would have won withough Darkness Metal). Priority also should has not worked on Ignition effects for more than 6 months in OCG.

I guess REDMD will be a lot stronger if you still have priority on Ignition effects, but honestly that's just playing with a flawed rule. I was pretty sure I heard they already changed that in the US too, but if not that's pretty sad.
Omega (guest) - 2012/03/23 08:10

to Elaborate on the Focus Force part, just want to hint that Gaia Dragoon does piercing damage.

Also double checking sources indicate that TCG indeed still has ignition effect priorities, and this explains why our experience in regards to REDMD has such a large discrepancy. This will only be disadvantageous for TCG players in World Championships though, although I guess that won't be a concern for most people.

Also didn't mean to start a fight but I read over my words and some might seem offensive. Just want to mention that so we can keep the discussion civil; I really enjoy it.

Why veiler not solemn warning

Why he used effect veiler than solemn warning

Omega (guest) - 2012/03/23 07:57

Because you can use Effect Veiler when you draw it from Card Car D, but not Solemn Warning.

Sure, you can set it next turn, but with how fast pace the OCG metagame is right now, people will prefer a weaker counter now than a stronger counter later

Veiler also works better for Hieroglyph because it doesn't kill the monster and thus set up for Teftni
