Official Catalogue - The Valuable Book 12 「公式カタログ ザ・ヴァリュアブルブック12」

Release date: 21st of August 2009

- Should feature many Deck samples.

Promo Cards included:

VB12-JP001
Underground Arachne 「地底のアラクネー」
EARTH/Insect - Synchro - Effect/6/2400/1200
1 DARK Tuner + 1 non-Tuner Insect-Type monster
If this card attacks, your opponent cannot activate any Magic or Trap Cards until the end of the Damage Step. Once per turn, you can treat 1 face-up monster your opponent controls as an Equip Card and equip it to this card. (Only 1 monster can be equipped to this card at a time this way.) If this card would be destroyed by battle, you can destroy the equipped monster instead.

Demonic Monkey King Zeman 「猿魔王ゼーマン」
EARTH/Beast - Synchro - Effect/7/2500/1800
1 DARK Tuner + 1 non-Tuner Beast-Type monster

So... finally VB12

It should be the usual two cards promo with it right or is this not the same product as the literal VB that has the promos in it?

I'm just wondering why it has no mention of promos in the news.

shriek - 2009/07/05 02:15

because we don't know anything else yet.

for god knows there could be three promos, happend before may happen again.
so it would be just guessing to list it to include two promos.
ShinobiPhoenix - 2009/07/05 02:25

Ok, makes sense.

Been a very long time since we had 3 promos though, might be nice if they went back to that, then we could get more anime cards they don't feel like giving us in sets.

Not even sure what I want at this point.
Scion of the Flames (guest) - 2009/07/05 09:04

If they did 3 promos it would be the ideal place to release:
A) Dick Pitt's only 3 anime cards (including Blizzard Lizard)
B) Guardian Dreadscythe, Celestial Sword-Eatos, Reaper Scyther- Dreadscythe

DarkSigner (guest) - 2009/07/05 16:01

Seems this is chance for Misty's Reptiless Servant and Gardna or bad End Queen Dragon to be realesed here as promos or Demak's Apes .

Scion of the F;ames (guest) - 2009/07/06 00:22

Reptilless Serven and Guardna will most likely be in Stardust OverDrive. Bad End Queen Dragon has four other cards attached to it. The 3 Tragic Tales(or Sad Stories-whatever) and the Tragic trap card.
Scion of the Flames (guest) - 2009/07/06 00:26

I kinda wish they'd release those Tragics and Bad End in the set after Overdrive. Afterall, for the entire month of July it looks like there will be no new spell cards played at all. We'll have to wait and see what's in the other 8 episodes before 607 is released.
ShinobiPhoenix - 2009/07/06 00:51

Quite a few problems with that...

Given the date today and your frequency of checking Shriek's blog, you already know for a fact that neither Reptiless Servant or Reptiless Gardna are in SOVR.

The Reptiless in SOVR are EN020 to EN023 with 024 being Ccarayhua (the first EBG of the set).

Seeing as they put non-anime cards that improve and add to an anime archetype in place of where anime cards would be, do you really think they will have anime cards down below with the non-anime? Not to mention, why would they put some of the same archetype in one area and a few more down below broken up?

If anything, it could be something from GX manga, or another returning DM or R, or as usual, something from the villains.
----------------------------------------------------

As far as Bad End Queen Dragon, it could easily be released stand-alone as a promo or in set regardless of whether they include the 3 Sad Stories because the effect and summoning conditions (which there are none except for no Normal Summoning) of Bad End Queen have NOTHING to do with the Sad Stories. It can be released completely without change at all. The Sad Stories and Bad End - Sorrowful Chain are just an alternate summoning, much like Volcanic Force would be for Volcanic Devil if it was made.

I'm not at all saying it should or would be one of these promos, only rebutting the need for the Sad Stories preventing the release of Bad End Queen.
Scion of the Flames (guest) - 2009/07/06 01:28

Actually, the last time I checked SOVR there was 49 cards known and just checking again now I somehow missed it jumping to passed 50.

Anyway, The 3 new Spider cards don't necessarily correspond directly as part of an in-text archetype and are yet to be confirmed in the numbering they are listed. They all have (?) after the number. They could be just like the extra plant type monsters released in CSOC. They were plant themed and worked with Aki's but were not organized with her actual cards. So I don't understand why you are asking why they would do that when it's already been done. Which is why it is NOT a fact that the 2 Reptilless will not be in the set. Not a fact yet anyway.
ShinobiPhoenix - 2009/07/06 02:43

Could count the holes in that logic with a calculator

A: Look again, Ground/Grand Spider DOES have its number confirmed as the 16 is clearly readable on the image.

B: I know you want to try and maintain your point, but be reasonable, not to mention logical. None of your points holds any water. You know the unconfirmed numbers ONLY says no one knows what ORDER the spiders go in, not some space that could be open for another card.

13 and 14 were already confirmed as two Infernity (one anime and one new), 015 to 019 are Spiders with Ground's number confirmed, 020 - 023 are Reptiless all of which have confirmed numbers, 024 - 026 are Earthbound Gods with confirmed numbers and clear images and past that (as usual) is non-anime cards.

So, on top of the fact that neither Aki's cards or Rudger's cards are even relevant to the case at hand (and the non-anime Plants in CSOC were neither of an archetype name nor was anyone pretending they belonged to Aki anyway), it means nothing in the face of the concrete fact that the two cards in question are ANIME cards and there is no room for those two ANIME cards to be with the rest of the ANIME cards.

Are they supposed to be 19.5 and 20.5?

There's no room for non-anime or even more anime cards IN THAT AREA. No anime Infernity, no anime Fortune Ladies (but non-anime before 009 is possible, but unlikely). Non-anime can be up there but usually would go where they belonged and usually have gone, but we're still talking about two cards that were used blatantly in the anime (summoned and all). They're not going to be at any point below 026. Or do you care to tell me of a time in recent years even as far back as GX or Soul of the Duelist when a card used specifically in the anime FIRST was listed down with the non-anime cards?
Scion of the F;ames (guest) - 2009/07/06 03:14

Sheesh calm down. Shinobi

You coming off as rather angry. Or rash, or whatever word have you.

Anyway. Dark Spider and Grand Spider are of course confirmed numbered and are anime cards. I'm not saying the other three spiders couldn't be directly after but that has yet to be confirmed, and amidst your posting you forget to realize that the reptlless confirmed numberings begin directly after the supposed numberings of said uncofirmed spider monster numberings. So no I don't think they are 19.5 and 20.5

For all we know it is possible that the three spiders are featured lower down in the set and those two Reptilless coud be in those spaces. I don't pretend to know what would fill the 17th space. All I can think of is Dive Bomb.

DarkSigner (guest) - 2009/07/06 16:32

I don't think Spiders will be under 24, 25 and 26 ( Earthbound Gods). They will be along with Dark and Grand Spider , same as those new Reptiless are with Gorgon. So that means there's no place for Reptilless Gardna , Servant and Queen Dragon. Those may be released as promos.

Quick Synchron here please.

Kotori - 2009/07/16 15:06

Amazed

I am proud of Konami printin Anime Dark Synchros as Normal Synchros in the real world. Although Dark Synchro will nt be introduced to OCG, but they sure did not disappoint Yu-Gi-Oh fans by printin these cards.

Fossil Fusion - 2009/07/16 17:08

So if they do this? Tag Force 4 should do it but I guess not.

I take it you dont minus the Levels since they are normal Synchros. Ah well. Still no Fossil Fusiosn lol
TheDarkAngelRocket - 2009/07/16 17:10

Dark Synchros are Now Synchros- BULL!

OK, so the Dark Synchros are reprinted as actual Synchros for the OCG. That's bull. I'm serious- so the DARK Tuners won't be "Dark Tuners" anymore. Hopefully they have the same effects.

Medigo (guest) - 2009/07/16 21:38

I dont think we will even SEE dark tuners
Most of em were pretty generic anyway
J4b0i (guest) - 2009/07/16 23:27

Maybe in some waythe Dark Tuners pick up the Dark Synchros effects of subtracting for a special Effect of their own.. The ones we seen in the anime but a bit amped.

Scion of the FLames (guest) - 2009/07/17 04:01

Haha. Wow. What no one was expecting. HED says "Dark Tuner +" which is both confusing and at the same time a disappointment. Oh well. That leaves 4 Dark Synchros left. Fitzgerald, Zumwalt, Flat Top, and Quilla.

HalfDemonInuyasha (guest) - 2009/07/17 22:40

reply

I wouldn't be surprised if they're only releasing half of them as normal Synchros while keeping the other half as Game Originals along with Dark Tuners just so people can use both as Frozen Fitzgerald and Dark Tuner - Catastrogue are Game Originals in TF4.
Wolfgang DelaSangre (guest) - 2009/07/22 02:07

I made my position pretty clear in the OHED announcement...

But I'll give my opinion on these two.

First off, I'm still very disappointed that Konami decided to nerf the Dark Synchro mechanic altogether. Not only would it have been a new spin on the game, but we could really use something that can take Synchros head on; about half of the Dark Synchros in the anime could rival the power of an Assault Mode monster (Fitzgerald was about average and Zaemon just sucked), and while they are slightly more difficult to summon than regular Synchros, Dark Synchros can easily be seen as their opposite and would've just been (and looked) cool. I mean, black card frames. Who WOULDN'T want that?

That said, my opinion on these two cards is as follows.

Arachne: This was one of the best Dark Synchros created, not only because Spells and Traps wouldn't work when it attacked, but also because of its near-indestructibility. However, the wording of the text was vague enough to cause some confusion (it could be equipped with multiple monsters, including face-downs, but would one or all be destroyed if the Arachne would be destroyed?), so I'm actually looking forward to any clarification this version may provide.

Zaemon: He sucked. Period. Frozen Fitzgerald was better because he was easier to summon and had two effects that were much better than "Tribute a monster to save this card's hairy red butt from being killed in battle." Fitzgerald came back immediately after being blasted and THEN destroyed every monster that killed it that turn! Zaemon? Nope. Summoning requirement changes aside (probably require a DARK Tuner and some Beast-Types), I don't think they can make him any worse than he already was. No disappointment expected here; I was disappointed when I saw his text translated in the anime.

Valuable Book 12 Synchro Monsters

Since the other card information(s) have been released, I decided to make an analytical review based on these two monsters. Based off the Dark Synchro monsters that the Dark Signers have used in the 5D's anime, these card(s) have been made into actual Synchro monsters in the OCG.

First, their stats/requirements.
Underground Arachne is a Level 6 2400 ATK Synchro Monster (decent attack but still no Goyo Guardian). Similarly, Zeman is a Level 7 2500 ATK Synchro (compared to other Level 7 Synchros, this is so-so). To summon them, you must obviously use a DARK (attribute) Tuner monster (which are plentiful especially given Level). Other monster(s) must be of the same type as the Synchro you are trying to summon. So for Underground Arachne, insect and for Demonic Monkey King Zeman, beast.
Egh, don't know about this requirement since typically DARK Tuner monsters follow some type guideline. Also, Insects and Beasts are not the most commonplace types in this format.

Second, their effects.
Underground Arachne has the effect that was mostly restricted to Ancient Gears. While this is no Ancient Gear Golem (3000 ATK piecer) or Ancient Gear Gadjitron Dragon (3000 ATK with multiple effect[s]), it kinda helps since this thing doesn't have the best ATK. Once per turn, it can treat a face-up monster on your opponent's field as an equip card, preventing its destruction. I don't know if this means you can only activate this effect if you do not have a monster equipped to it OR if it is a once-per turn effect. Judging by things, it seems to be the former. Rest of the card text is unknown, but I assume it keeps the anime effect of destroying the equip card in its place when destroyed.
Demonic Monkey King Zaeman also has the same Ancient Gear-like effect that Underground Arachne has, but with 2500 ATK and a moderate amount of Beast cards, can take advantage of this more than UA. Its second effect is that by discarding a monster from your Hand, you can negate an attack. Good for your weaker monsters, I suppose.

Coupled with One-Hundred Eye Dragon, these "Dark Synchro" cards seem to be nothing in the actual OCG. I don't expect them to be used in any real deck, especially given their summoning requirement which really does not fit with anything.

Wolfgang DelaSangre (guest) - 2009/08/19 01:52

OHED would love these...

Except that they're both EARTH monsters.

I wasn't surprised that Zaemon's effect is exactly the same as it was in the anime. To be honest, I think it's better as a regular Synchro than a Dark Synchro. And I'm glad for the clarification of Arachne.

These are still artistic sins, though.

Can someone translate and upload all the decklist onto the webpage please??

DarkSigner (guest) - 2009/09/06 21:26

Oh yes, I wonder about those Deck samples which are mentioned here. I would really like to see those Decks.
