Dragons

This sounds like there is dragon support in the future

Yojilk (guest) - 2009/02/27 16:30

Either than or a Dragoon (human/dragon) kind of set, let's hope for the best there

TheDarkAngelRocket - 2009/05/05 20:03

Dragunity

Nope, they're WIND-attribute "Dragon" monsters.
Apparently they focus on:
1): Effect(s) that activate when they are Special Summoned by a Dragunity monster.
2): Effect(s) that activate when they are returned from the field to the hand.

danierulynx - 2009/05/05 20:14

It's not when they're returned from the field to the hand, it's when they return THEMSELVES from the field to the hand.

Also, what was the point in stating the downright bloody obvious?
SynjoDeonecros - 2009/05/11 19:03

So, I'm assuming the two Dragunity monsters we saw earlier are hoaxes, since they're no longer up? Damn, that sucks. They actually looked kinda cool.

Gunma (guest) - 2009/05/18 14:53

Yes!

Wow some of those monsters would be hella good in a cyberdark deck,Phalanx and Black Bomber can easy synchro summons with them now, can't wait to see the rest of the set!

Duel Terminal 6

In contrary to their names, Dragunity monsters are WIND attribute monsters as opposed to WIND attribute dragon monsters.
Dux and Legion work directly with Phalanx, Tribul is assumed to support this process (although it can send other dragons as well). Black-Spear's effect allows it to work with Birds outside the archetype as well (note its name matches a Black Feather monster). Finally, the Synchro monster in this set, Gaebolg, works with a Dragon-type Tuner and a Bird non-tuner. Removing ANY Bird-type monster can substantially increase its ATK power.
There is some more AOJ support; Lethal Weapon allows you to draw 1 card after it attacks (special summon any Level 4 or lower AOJ monsters that were drawn by this effect). D.D. Checker forbids the Special Summoning of LIGHT monsters (good card). Cycle Leader, a Tuner, can be discarded to remove up to 2 LIGHT monsters from the grave. Their Synchro, Decisive Arms, requires at least 3 monsters but at the exchange of several powerful effects. If DNA Transplant was going to be used, it can't get any better!
Finally, Worms. This is probably their last set, covering Worms from W-Z. Worm Warlord can attack twice and negate any effect(s) of monsters destroyed by this card in battle (at the exchange of no Special Summon). Xex can send a Worm monster (probably Yagan) when Normal Summoned. Then, Yagan can Special Summon itself if only Xex is on the field; good for first turn. With that, Xex can't be destroyed in battle and Yagan is rfp when removed, and can return a face-up monster to the opponent's hand.
Worm Zero, a fusion monster... What a weird way to end an archetype. It requires 2 or more Worm monsters, and its effect changes depending on the number of monsters used.

tsog (guest) - 2009/05/20 00:07

as of the effects right now, decisive arms is broken against lightsworn
it's easy to summon (i play zombies, so 2x zombie masters + psz), the heavy storm effect and the last effect (anti-beckoning light, could deal 3000+ lp if they brought back a jd) are extremely powerful
3300 atk is the strongest among sychros except for the new stardust, making him a good beat stick

Worm0 (guest) - 2009/05/23 15:09

worm zero so strong, future fusion send 16 to OTK.
patitoroshi - 2009/05/25 17:20

...

It's not a Heavy Storm effect, it's a Harpie´s Feather Duster effect...

Genex?

This looks great. I'm lovin the new dragunity archetype. I do have a quick question about the real genex series though. Are they supposed to be just more genex support or are they supposed to be an archetype of their own (kinda like a genex 2.0 series)? Also what are the genex designs based off of? I know that the genex series designs seem to be based of alternate energy sources, but I'm not quite sure at all about the real genex series. Anyway thanks :)

Killey (guest) - 2009/06/20 20:02

Hmm...

Real Genex is a sub-theme of the Genex theme much like how XX-Sabers are the sub-theme for X-Saber monsters. Support for Genex will work for Real Genex monsters unless they specify "Real Genex" in the card effects.

The theme is sort of like the E-Heroes of synchros with their mix elements and synchros involving specific attributes. Unfortunately, unlike E-Heroes its rather hard to sync for their particular synchros. Otherwise, the deck has some good hand management and with the addition of these monsters have capable field swarming capabilities. The theme has some good atk/def level 4 monsters so they carry good field presence.

The Dragunity theme has an interesting gimmick to them but overall the bird-type monsters hold the theme back as they have sub-par effects at best. Unfortunately, you'll need them to sync for their synchro monsters but they don't appear to be worth the trouble. The level 2 tuner works incredibly well within a cyberdark deck but trying to form synergies between machines and dragons is a bit awkward. A deck with these will probably focus on fast synchros with recyclable monsters/tuners with cards like junk synchron or that machine tuner that SS's 1 level 4 dark machine monster from your grave.

Worms are garbage and will never see competitive play. There's no way to survive long enough with them with the current metagame.
Aimlessly Staring (guest) - 2009/06/21 21:40

Genex Controller is easy to search for and Instant Fusion can help with the specific needs to the Genex synchros, so it is not as hard as you put it. And there's enough monsters that can be play in the deck that are easily special summon-able on their own, like Tricky.

Dragonunity and Cyber Dark actually work better than most ppl believe, I actually do have a decklist that's being playtest right now and is going through its third version (the first two works okay, still need to finalize some tweak) although a Dragonunity and BF works okay, but it's definitely not the best way to go.
Chewydog - 2009/07/27 20:51

ill just keep my cyber dark deck the way it is

i did a proxie test against my cyber dark deck needless to say i killed it in 3 turns with me having the first turn to draw
