is this all the japs can run? get some originality

T.G. Boy (guest) - 2011/08/30 02:31

at least japan are more creative than tcg. The only creative in tcg is to make use of TCG exclusive cards other than that they copy OCG Deck and make a weird name like graveyard black feather become vayu turbo, destiny blade become diamond dude turbo etc...
random (guest) - 2011/08/29 18:43

If the deck is good, why not run them?
I bet all the people who demand originality just wants to copy the list.

KyuRenjo (guest) - 2011/08/29 19:33

lol agreeed

so rite
Brian (guest) - 2011/08/29 20:21

You know at one point it seemed that everyone was running six samurai, or at least everyone who i knew and duled.

R (guest) - 2011/08/29 21:22

I don't agree with you guys, just look at the decks, it's the same build, same monsters, same spells, same traps, every single agent deck has the same cards, some change 1 or 2 cards but it's basically the same build. And yeah, I must say I don't like that, but if we see so many agent decks top perhaps that is because the 90% of Japanese play agents, it doesn't mean it's the best deck. People don't care about the fun anymore, they just want to win.

Badass_Bunny (guest) - 2011/08/29 21:49

Are you trying to say that Winning isn't fun?
R (guest) - 2011/08/29 22:04

What I'm trying to say is that people focus only in winning, not in getting fun. I don't find funny playing the same deck that everybody else plays; same moves, same strategy, every duel is the same, it gets boring.
xSaber (guest) - 2011/08/30 00:42

There are plenty of people running other decks, agents top the most because there strong, lots of people are running original decks in some of these tourneys, but we never see them, you know why? because they never top.
S (guest) - 2011/08/30 03:37

Here's the deck distribution from a different tournament:

Gee, 19 out of 77 sure looks like "90% of people are running Agents." It's not the same event, but it doesn't look like everybody, or even the majority, of people are running agents. The OCG is already more inventive than the TCG. Most TCG decks are just copies of OCG decks. Either that, or they abuse TCG exclusives like Reborn Tengu and Tour Guide, which pretty much every deck either runs 3 Tengu or 3 Tour Guides (and some run both).

And you must not win very often. First off, just because you're playing mirror matches doesn't mean that it's "boring" and everyone does the same moves. TeleDAD mirror matches have tons of strategy. So does GB mirror matches. Those were formats where players won based on skill (the way it should be) rather than who can lucksack or herp derp the most onto the field.

Secondly, I don't know too many people who enter these tournaments to lose. People pay money to play so they can win. Why shouldn't they run a deck that thinks gives them the best chance to win? Why should they mess around with Aliens and Amazons if they don't have a shot at winning anything? People run other decks too. They just aren't as good so they don't win as often. Believe it or not, a good deck is going to win more than a bad deck. Shocking, right?
Funkdat (guest) - 2011/08/30 07:35

I agree

Anyone that whins about everyone playing the same deck has most likely never played at anything higher then a Locals. When you go to a majot event that you pay to get into, has live coverage, and big prizes, why one earth wouldn't you play the deck that has the best chance of winning. I wouldn't take a knife to a gun fight. You might kill one person, but your going to lose pretty fast. You go to these events to win, not to show off how creative a deck you can make.
tired of bad player whinning (guest) - 2011/08/30 11:33

look on the bright side siding should not be a problem lol. ocg plays a way better game and they do it with out 200$ tcg exclusive and bad xyz ruling to sell cards. Everyone may be playing agents because Hyperion is boss but most deck are different. in a mirror match format techs and strategy make you or break you. play your fun deck at home but a YCS or REGIONAL play the meta. also click the link above and see what deck won and tell me thats not original.
R (guest) - 2011/08/30 23:59

I think you didn't understand what I meant. Some people like me don't like to copy other player's deck just to win. Do you feel good when you win with a deck that you didn't create? well, I don't, and this varies with people. And yeah, I've never been in a YCS or a major event, I've played only at my locals, and I hate conceited people but I can say I'm a good player, I've been playing since about 10 years and I win often even if you don't believe me. And as far as I know the most part of the decks shown here are from local tournaments, so I don't know why are you saying they pay so much money, do you mean $4? because that's more or less what I've paid to enter one of this events and the participants have as well really good decks.

So, what we learn here is that there are players who like copying exactly the same decks card by card, and there are others who like playing with their own ideas, I don't mean to run ojamas or ice barriers, I'm just saying that it's good to see more diversity in their builds. I'm not whining neither I'm mad nor I want to fight with you guys, this is the internet and I know how it works. It's your life and your yugiohz, so play as you want and be happy.
LyumK (guest) - 2011/08/31 05:39

if we get technical...some of the agent decks run 2 herald instead of 3 lol
S (guest) - 2011/08/31 06:59

Great, you win at locals. That's not that hard. Any decent player would score wins at locals. You don't need a top deck to win at locals. But if you want to win at a major event, then you better believe you'll need a tier 1 deck to compete through 10+ rounds against top tier decks.

And again, if all you do is enter $4 tournaments, then you really shouldn't talk. People pay a lot more money than that to enter a YCS, not to mention that a lot of them pay a good deal of money for transportation and accommodations while they're there. Those people pay too much money to not give themselves a chance to win.

No one wants to copy the same cards. Everyone wants to win with their own ideas and their own tech. But the bottom line is that certain decks are better than others. And running those decks at events doesn't mean you don't have originality or you aren't playing for fun. I'd much rather run Agents and win than run Aliens and lose. To me, winning is more fun than losing.

I find it funny that you claim that people should "play as you want and be happy" and yet you're the one that complains that people should be more "original." People are original. They just want to win. Sometimes that involves using a deck someone else already pioneered.
