everywhere

everywhere are blackwings and tcg people still calls them not "meta" in ocg..

Guardian Eatos (guest) - 2011/08/03 01:03

don't you see the trend every deck now is running ashit load of traps agents blackwings etc. thats why whe need heavy back because it is set 5 back row and win nowadays unbelievable
Mpitts (guest) - 2011/08/03 01:13

duality to 0 the card just makes this deck what it is ban whirlwind and it's a go
Scrap ! (guest) - 2011/08/03 05:42

Zzz

Please read carefully what you write . Duality should and would unlikely get hit . It's effect is already rather balanced out and it is definitely not broken . Even if Duality got hit, Fragment of Greed will be replacing Duality with its +2 . What is gonna happen then ? Are you gonna call Fragment of Greed broke?
godless (guest) - 2011/08/03 07:44

not surprised to see mpitts making such a statement.
Obviously (guest) - 2011/08/05 01:21

Wow

First of all, Fragment of greed is only a plus 1 and it takes three turns to use. Second of all, Pot of Duality allows you access to 1/11 of your deck which is very broken. It is really irrelevant if you can't special that turn because you just sit on your backrow. Because of this it makes many decks that shouldn't be able to compete, viable. As well as the fact that it has become a staple in most top tier decks. Konami hates staples why do you think they keep cycling in and out with different staples. Duality to One would need to happen to make it so it isn't so abusable as well as the fact semi limiting it only effects about 50? of decks that use it already. Ultimately they want to sell tins so I don't seeing it getting hit.
superawesomecooldude (guest) - 2011/08/03 11:04

not meta

We've gone through lots of testing in the freakin tcg.
Blackwing aren't meta. TG's and maybe Hero outclass the deck. Japanese are just a bunch of newbies.

KyuRenjo (guest) - 2011/08/03 18:40

AHAHAHAH

you are joking, RIGHT?
Santa (guest) - 2011/08/04 02:26

WHOA

Is this guy serious??? Don't fuck with the Japanese bro
OCG (guest) - 2011/08/04 09:42

@idiot

SORRY how can the japanese be newbies when they get the cards firsts? Testing my ass take an OCG deck and Tweak it. I saw TG in the OCG way before it was in the TCG. TCG exclusive are the reason y our meta differ: recruiter, Tengu, get your head out of your ass. when worlds come TCG players get it pushed in because OCG player have seen there combo's and at worlds TCG exclusives are not allowed.....
ocg dude (guest) - 2011/08/05 04:47

BRO! are u sure japanese are newbies? They can top using BW even when they got hit so badly, TCG players are not pro enough to do that you know? all you know is tengu and plus ones....no creavtivity...
kenja0 (guest) - 2011/08/05 22:08

OCG != TCG

You cannot compare two different formats.

Reborn Tengu, XX-Saber Darksoul, Gravekeeper Recruiter and multiple other cards that make at least 10 more decks playable in the TCG do not exist in the OCG. Sure, they have XYZ, 2 new sets and the new Dark World stuff, but TCG outclasses OCG in speed and playability because our exclusives are sometimes broken in comparison.

Infernities without Barrier is hard; XX-Sabers are NOT PLAYABLE without Darksouls, Boggart Knights, and Saber Vaults; Nordics are playable here, even if they are still out shined; Gravekeeper Recruiters make GKs fantastic; Psi-Blocker is great with Psychics; Scraps with Tengu (as well as many other decks) and the new exclusives coming out in Generation Force will make several more decks playable.

Blackwings are winning because TCG exclusives don't exist in Japan yet. Wait until September for their Extra Packs and see what happens to their format. And even then, they won't have Reborn Tengu yet.
superawesomecooldude (guest) - 2011/08/08 04:00

no

yall love them japanese so much dont u.
i guarantee no blackwing deck in the ocg and tcg will ever win a large scale tournament.
klutch (guest) - 2011/08/04 16:51

not surpirsed

Ocg has always had a great attraction to bw for some reason. So many people play the deck over there of course its gonna top

xSaber (guest) - 2011/08/05 22:37

Make up your mind?

First people complain that everyone uses top decks, now people are complaining about people using outclassed decks. Who cares seriously, this guy likes blackwings so hes going to use blackwings.

To the idiot that said japanese people are newbies, well it usually goes like this, Japanese guy makes a deck, tcg people find out and net deck, tops in tcg then everyone net decks it and some 'creative' people add 1 or 2 tcg exclusive cards.

Japanese have the most originality. TCG just net deck.

Marodin (guest) - 2011/08/07 13:34

To be fair

The TCG have their originality too! Due to the availability of exclusives. Like TeleDAD was only really successful because of allure and dark grepher (which were TCG exclusives). So to be fair TCG CAN produce creative decks, albeit more rarely.

And it's possible that there are many TCG players with creative decks but aren't "advertised" because they don't make it big (although this isn't a valid point) and that we as netizens are only exposed to the decks that win YCGs and whatnot. A lot of these japanese tournaments ARE rather small scale, no? (correct me if i'm wrong).

Don't get so worked up...

You absolutely cannot make any comparisons between the OCG and TCG formats. They are completely different, just like differing international cultures or languages.

There is a huge difference in both formats because of two extremely important aspects, which are: 1) TCG has exclusives and 2) OCG gets cards 1 or 2 packs ahead of TCG. Its obvious that both formats seem to be stagnating a bit but this is simply due to the recursion and stability of decks that have proven themselves in the past. TCG simply abuses the crap out of recruiters and floaters (i.e. Tengu, Darksoul, GK Recruiter) and that's the only reason stuff tops so freaking much, not to mention, all T.G. monsters are recruiters on their own. Now OCG has the problem that nobody has pioneered anything new past the synchro spam decks even though they get all the cards beforehand. Other than that they aren't able to make decks good that eventually become good in TCG because they never get the exclusives (i.e. like how I think Lost Blue Breaker is makes Banish'd Fish better).

And when it comes to the netdecking problem, many people turn to OCG for ideas or deck types due to the fact that obviously OCG gets the cards earlier (thus testing them) and TCG people can gauge the decks' potential before it ever gets tested in TCG. The thinking goes along the lines of, "I wana win, so how can I do that?" and the answer obviously becomes, "Let's look to whats already won/winning." So it makes sense because those cards are new to us and technically whatever deck OCG makes good, we make better with our exclusives and win. However the real netdecking problem begins when people start copying decks that have topped YCS's, Nats, and Worlds, and start playing them, and that's where the creativity dies out for sure.

Along with all this going on, its also fallen to Konami's lack of responsibility in monitoring the game state a little more regularly, especially because of stuff like the same "basic" 5 plants being run as an "engine" in a whole variety of decks in TCG and Tengu being splashed everywhere as well, which ABSOLUTELY NEEDS TO BE STOPPED. Stuff like PoD doesn't need to be hit because technically it provides more stability to decks that may need it, and meta decks simply slow them selves down for said stability. It shouldn't have been as expensive as it was before the reprint and certainly shouldn't have been made secret rare. That's where Konami's fault comes into play, with decisions like that, and that's what causes uproar among the playing masses. But then again, Konami is a company and their first and primary goal is to make money, so its understandable that they pull stunts like that. Flip that argument AGAIN, and you'll see that they've actually started being A LOT more helpful toward the player base by making previously hard-to-find/expensive cards more accessible through reprints in the TCG(i.e. Mirror Force, Solemn, Emmersblade, and even the upcoming PoD + Kristya). So you have to give them credit for that. Only problem is at this point, that the banlist should probably be updated more often OR Something else, because due to the repetition of previously proven cards, people just want to keep winning with said decks.

When it comes to broken stuff like Librarian, Trishula, Tengu, and etc, they either should stop making them or they should drive severe limitations (list-wise or text-wise) into them to prevent such brokenness. But then again, their goal is to make money, so I guess you gota deal with it. >:(

And that was my essay on the Analysis of International Card Game Economics and Functions. I hope I get an A+ :3

u5h3ra1i (guest) - 2011/08/08 02:55

One mooore thing...

Its also good to mention that Blackwings are such commonly seen in OCG due to the fact that priority has been lost to the wind. A lot of other decks use monsters that usually require priority for optimum performance and Blackwing's don't have any monsters that get hindered by this with the exception of DaD, Gale (which usually gets pulled out by Shura now anyways), and any of the other synchros like Brio. An example would be like X-sabers needing priority to pull off their biggest plays like Faultroll, Boggart, and Hyunlei. So thats another huge aspect to the differentiation between the two metas.
