Actually, if the effect of Machine Dragon - Power Tool is any indication, they're still somewhat similar overall. Not exactly the same, of course, but in terms of the general usage since Machine Dragon - Power Tool is, like Power Tool Dragon, still heavily based on Equip Magic Cards...
Machine Dragon - Power Tool (Synchro)
Earth/Machine/7/2300/2500
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Monsters
Each time this card is equipped with an Equip Magic Card, you can draw 1 card. During either player's turn, you can select 1 Equip Magic card your opponent controls and equip it to this card.
...so it won't surprise me if Burning Demon Dragon - Red Daemon is still based around destroying your opponent's monsters in some way or something of that nature, given Red Daemon's Dragon "POWAH!!!!" aspect. And Machine Dragon - Power Tool also having the exact same stats as Power Tool Dragon too.
I'm also glad that, while key cards still, they don't seem to be what the whole series is based around either (yet).
